Congrats on the first post! What an interesting story behind your designer purchase. Your "new" bag now means more than any other Loewe Hammock you see on the street being so uniquely yours!

Cursed or not!! You would be cursed for not doing everything you could to own a free (!?) Loewe bag. I love this story, everything it says about you loving a brand, patiently shopping second-hand and breathing new life into it! Bravo!

thank you Kelly!! so far this bag has been with me for around 7 months and no signs of bad luck :) and Loewe is indeed an amazing brand to keep an eye on right now, love their recent collections by Jonathan!

It looks great for a cursed bag! I love it when a piece has a great story behind it!

thank you!! it was my first time dyeing a bag! i used this video as a reference and it helped a lot: https://youtu.be/1TGcqWpHS8I?si=ZOUxC2m_cZ5pRUVe

i’ve bought all the things needed from angelus, they seem like a brand trusted by many professionals. i needed a leather deglazer (to remove the previous layers of paint from the bag and to prep the leather for the dye), black dye and a finishing matte coat + a couple of sponges/brushes to apply. the whole process took around two days and i followed the video above.

my biggest fails/recommendations would be to cover the inside of the bag well (i covered but still ended up staining it a little) and to be aware of the straps edges, they usually have some kind of thick edge coating to seal the leather and it disintegrated after i used lots of deglazer on the straps. i still haven’t put that coating back on because you need a special tool and a paint for that.

good luck with your project! i was really nervous initially, when researching online i didn’t like how you can sometimes tell if something was re-dyed because it became shiny and you can see the “color coating”, but thanks to that matte finisher it ended up looking really good! just make sure to not foam up that last coating a lot, better use a brush than a sponge, so there are no bubbles :)
